A Firm Built on Lived Experience

Raymond Francois Hauptfleisch didn't walk straight from school into a law degree. He was an educator, an HR professional, and a business owner first. He came to law later in life — the same way most people come to an attorney: with real stakes, genuine uncertainty, and no safety net.

Why RFH Inc Exists

Most people avoid attorneys until they have no choice. They're intimidated by jargon, worried about costs, and afraid of being judged. Raymond started RFH Inc to change that experience entirely — because he knows exactly what that fear feels like.

He founded RFH Inc on a simple conviction: that every person — regardless of their situation — deserves honest, expert legal advice delivered with dignity. Not a file number. Not a billing target. A person with a problem that needs solving.

Before qualifying as an attorney, Raymond built careers as an educator and an HR professional. He has sat where his clients now sit — unsure of the system, uncertain of the cost, and wondering whether the law could actually help. Those experiences, combined with going through divorce, being retrenched, and navigating sequestration personally, shaped not just how he practises law, but why.

The Three Pillars

Professional

Highest legal and ethical standards. Precision, confidentiality, and rigorous attention to detail. Results-driven, strategic thinking.

Personable

Clear, timely communication in plain language. You'll always know exactly what's happening with your matter. Accessible and responsive.

Personal

Raymond lived a full career before law — teacher, HR practitioner, entrepreneur — and navigated divorce, retrenchment, and sequestration personally. He brings genuine empathy rooted in shared experience, not professional courtesy.

Raymond Francois Hauptfleisch came to the law later in life — by choice, after building two other careers. He qualified as an educator first, spending years in the classroom before moving into human resources, where he managed workplace relations, employee discipline, retrenchments, and organisational compliance from the employer's side. He then built and ran his own business. Only after all of that did he pursue his law degree and complete articles to be admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

That path matters. There is a meaningful difference between an attorney who moved straight from school to a law degree to articles — who has never managed a team, never sat in a disciplinary hearing, never felt the pressure of payroll, never had a contract dispute affect a business relationship they built from scratch — and one who has done all of those things before opening a legal textbook. Raymond is the latter.

He also knows what it feels like to sit on the other side of a legal problem with no guide and no certainty. When he chose to study law as a mature student, he felt exactly the same trepidation that his clients describe when they first pick up the phone. He didn't know how the system worked, he wasn't sure it would work for him, and he had real stakes — not a theoretical exercise. That experience has never left him, and it shapes every consultation he conducts.

"I came to law the hard way — through the classroom, the HR office, a retrenchment, the business I built, and the personal setbacks that tested everything. That's not a disadvantage. It's the reason I can look across the desk at a client and say, honestly: I understand what you're going through."

His background in education means he knows how to explain complex things clearly. His HR experience — backed by post-graduate study in Labour Law — means he understands employment relationships, workplace disputes, and compliance obligations from the inside out, not just from a statute. Post-graduate work in Commercial Law deepens the practical commercial advice he is able to give. His time as a business owner means that when he tells you whether something is worth pursuing, that assessment comes from someone who has had to make those same calls with real money and real relationships on the line.

Based in Pretoria and Johannesburg, he has built a practice that is intentionally different: transparent fees, direct attorney access, WhatsApp communication, and a commitment to plain language at every step. He will tell you honestly when litigation isn't worth the cost. He will give you real options — not just legal theory — and he will be direct about which path makes the most practical sense for your situation.
